Three things I’ve always found funny about couples.

  1. Facebook relationship statuses. I don’t mind the whole “(insert name here) and (insert name here) are in a relationship” type of deal. What really amuses is when people constantly get back together and break up and keep all of the statuses plastered on their Facebooks for the world to see instead of deleting them on the spot. You’d think that after the first ten times, their FB friends would get the idea. This may not be the case but, I feel that some people leave their little “break up” statuses on their Facebooks deliberately as a little “HELLOOO WORLD, MY RELATIONSHIP IS OVER SO YOU CAN PITY ME NOW” message. If it’s the first break up ever, understandable. But the seventh? This kind of bothers me… only because if that were me, I’d feel extremely uncomfortable with the public knowing about my relationship’s (or ex-relationship’s) crystal clear instability. It just seems awkward and wrong.
  2. Tumblr GIF couples. I admit, some of the self-made GIFs of couples on Tumblr look good together but the reality of the GIFs make me sick. To think that two people literally sat in a room together and filmed themselves kissing and trying to make themselves appear to be doing “candid cute” things is kind of, well, stupid. Stupid as hell. I kind of think, “Um, okay. That looks like it would have been really cute to have witnessed but really awkward to have filmed.” I also kind of laugh when I wonder how many takes it took to finally have created that “epic cute moment” on video before they decided to turn it into a GIF. One does not simply… perfectly capture candid-cute moments when they are indeed completely scripted. They kind of remind me of dolls. Cute but fake as hell.
  3. Trophy couples. It really bugs me when a girl brags about her boyfriend 24/7. Look what he got me! My boyfriend is my Prince Charming, he surprised me with a new purse! Babe came to my house at 4AM with a bouquet of flowers for absolutely NO reason at all, oh he is so very thoughtful!~ Coming from a fellow girlfriend myself, I understand the occasional need to express your feelings for the boy you love and care about… but it gets kind of annoying when girls begin flashing their boyfriends around like a trophy. You know, less of the “I love him” and more of the “look what he just bought me” kind of crap. To be honest, it’s actually starting to feel like a low-key competition between girls and their relationships. Whose boyfriend is sweeter, whose boyfriend is the most thoughtful, whose boyfriend is the best? I could care less. If you want to show off what he bought you for Valentine’s Day, go right ahead. No problem there… but once you start showing off how much stuff he buys for you every single day, it just makes you seem like an unappreciative spoiled brat that just can’t WAIT to brag to everyone.
